Jimmy Buffett at the Final Four? Yes!

The NCAA Men’s Final Four, taking place next weekend in New Orleans, is pulling all the stops to treat basketball fans to some great music as well.

The annual championship weekend will include a free “Big Dance Concert Series” in Woldenberg Park, which features KISS on March 30, The Black Keys on March 31, and Jimmy Buffett on April 1. The concert series has become a part of the annual festivities, and also includes a Block Party, a Viewing Party and a JamFest. Past performers included Kings of Leon, Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift.

Buffett is a native son of the Gulf Coast region with close ties to New Orleans. He is a huge New Orleans Saints fan, and spends a great deal of time in the area. His inclusion with this year’s NCAA championship is a natural extension of his love of the area and his own love of both music and sports.

Free Jimmy Buffett concert draws huge crowd to Gulf Coast

The Associated Press reported that the weather was clear, the Hawaiian shirts were plentiful and the white sand was only slightly marred by oil at the free Jimmy Buffett concert on July 11.

A Gulf Coast native, Buffett held the free concert in Alabama and is credited with bringing in more than 35,000 people for the concert.

As the crowd gathered near the ocean–complete with a huge sand barrier erected by the Alabama National Guard–Buffett played a set filled with classics like “Son of a Son of a Sailor,” “Margaritaville” and “Come Monday.”

Buffett’s Gulf Concert Postponed to July 11th

Hurricane Alex may not be zeroing in on the Alabama coast, but it’s still affecting the festivities that would have been “CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live From The Gulf Coast.”  The free concert by Buffett was to take place on July 1st, but they’ve decided to delay the event in case weather-related surf conditions make the stage and surrounding areas unstable or unsafe.

“This is a disappointment, obviously, but Jimmy Buffett is still coming to the Gulf Coast on July 11, and tickets will be honored at that time,” said Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft.

Jimmy Buffet takes Margaritaville to the Oil Spill with free concert

Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band are holding a free concert at the Gulf Shores, Ala., beach on July 1 with fellow artists Kenny Chesney, Sonny Landreth, the Zac Brown Band, Jesse Winchester and Allen Toussaint.

The concert–”Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live from the Gulf Coast”–will also air on CMT from 8-9:30 p.m. ET on July 1.

Buffet and the other artists hope the concert will prove to the public that, despite the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, many areas in the Gulf Coast are unharmed and can still be enjoyed as a tourist destination.

Buffett’s New Venture: The First Margaritaville Hotel

Jimmy Buffett is pleased to announce another edition to his Margaritaville Empire.  Set to open mid to late June is the very first Margaritaville Beach Hotel located at Pensacola Beach, Pensacola, Fl!

The hotel is located on a prime stretch of sand with a fishing pier and will feature 162 rooms, 24 suites, a pool & beach bar and an entertainment area tentatively named, “Land Shark Landing.”  Room rates will range from $195 to $450 a night with respect to season and specific accommodations.  ( Read More…)

Buffett To Release Live CD

Jimmy Buffett is about to release a new live acoustic double CD,  “Encores.”  The CD is a compilation of 22 encore songs recorded during his 2008/2009 tour.

Jimmy has provided fans with new audio samples to preview before the CD hits stores on April 20, 2010.  “Encores” will be available exclusively through Walmart, Walmart.com, and Buffett’s official website, Margaritaville.

Jimmy Buffett fans do not fear, if you would like to have your own encore experience, Jimmy is about to embark on his “Under The Big Top” 2010 tour.   The tour begins April 24 at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa, FL.  Other dates include stops in Atlanta, Nashville, Dallas, Mansfield, Camden, and Pittsburgh.  No summer is ever complete without a stop in Margaritaville!  Get your Jimmy Buffett tickets today!

Jimmy Buffett wants YOUR margarita…sort of.

National Margarita Day is Feb. 22, and Jimmy Buffett wants your best margarita recipes. (I’m guessing he’s looking for a way to relax after his tour ends this month. Or, maybe he wants a new recipe to feature in his Margaritaville restaurants!)

Buffett has Margaritaville restaurants in Key West, Orlando, Panama City Beach, Mohegan Sun, New Orleans, Glendale, Ariz., Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, the Caribbean and Mexico.

His official Web site says that the winning recipe (and its creator) will be featured on National Margarita Day.

Jimmy Buffett wrapping up winter tour this month

Jimmy Buffett will finish his Summerzcool tour on February 27th at the Bank Atlantic Center in Florida.

The singer and leader of the Parrotheads, who has been touring for the past few months, will wind the tour down in the South over the next three weeks.

Buffett is supporting – not that Buffett ever needs a reason to tour – “Buffett Hotel,” which was released on December 8th.

Jimmy Buffett - Concerned Citizen

The Miami Marine Stadium, which is owned by the city, has been closed since 1992, but lately there have been considerable efforts to reopen and restore the stadium. Jimmy Buffett played a memorable show there on August 17, 1985.

Buffet recently said that he supported the restoration. “It’s a symbol of everything that’s great about Florida…the stadium deserves a future,” Buffet said. He’s rallying fans to help the effort with a personal video plea on YouTube, also posted on his official website. If you want to learn more on how to help, visit www.marinestadium.org.

In other Jimmy Buffest news, he has four shows in November in Virginia, Ontario, Connecticut and New York.
